The book tries to fill in the unknown moments from the history of the nobility. It is the first attempt to record the specific development of the Austrian nobility and to illustrate their attitude, form and relations to nations and nationalism. The book shows that even this supposedly supranational society was not immune to modern nationalism and radical political ideologies.
