Centre for the History of Education
Established at the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences on 1 September 2018, the Centre for the History of Education is an interdisciplinary undertaking that coordinates research in the Czech Republic on the history of education from the Middle Ages to the present day and also works to strengthen ties with similar research endeavours abroad. In addition to this, the centre has its own research ambitions, which it pursues by organizing a variety of scientific meetings, submitting and executing collective grant projects, and publishing scientific works. The centre engages with the greater scientific community and general public, with whom it shares its research findings through lectures and other events such as exhibitions. Its activities are based on broad interdisciplinary collaboration with other institutions, including those of the Czech Academy of Sciences (Institute of Philosophy, Institute of Contemporary History) and various universities (Faculty of Arts of Charles University, Faculty of Humanities of Charles University, Institute of History and Archive of Charles University, Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Faculty of Arts of University of Ostrava, Faculty of Science, Humanities, and Education of the Technical University of Liberec, and others), as well as with some museum institutions (National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius, J. A. Comenius Museum, Uherský Brod, and others).
