2. Reasons and means of establishment
The Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences was established by a resolution passed during the 2nd session of the General Assembly of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences of 24 January 1990 and entering into effect on 1 February 1990 under the name Institute of History of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. In compliance with section 18, paragraph 2 of Act No. 283/1992 Coll., on 31 December 1992 the institute was incorporated into the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
The mission of the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences is to pursue scientific research in the field of history, promote the application of its research findings, and provide a conducive research infrastructure.
