The University of Basel and the Bohemian Lands (1460–1630)

The book deals with the relations between the University of Basel and the Bohemian lands in the period from 1460 to 1630, analysing the structure and basic development trends of the university, its frequentation by the inhabitants of the Bohemian lands, its social and confessional composition, its educational profile and the further careers of the students. Another focus is on the everyday life of the students in Basel (financing, studies, accommodation, food, etc.), their literary activities, correspondence networks, genealogical books and libraries. The book also analyses the influence of Basel printing on the Czech lands. The appendices are an integral part of the monograph, the most extensive part of which contains biographies of 211 analysed personalities.
