The book deals with the theme of antidemocratic and nationalistic tendencies in the Czech and German Catholic milieu in Czechoslovakia in the interwar period. The issue is mentioned in the context of Central Europe – primarily with particular emphasis on developments in Austria and Germany. Attention is also devoted to papal politics of this period, which acted offensively in a public area and was simultaneously confronted with the rise of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes in Europe.
