The monography is dedicated to the life and work of the Wankel and Bakeš family. In detail is studied the personality and the work of MUDr. Bakeš, who made his way up to be an excellent clinical surgeon in Vienna, Třebíč and Brno. He also along with his mother Lucie Bakešová-Wankelová (1853–1935) founded the House of Consolation (today’s Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute) in Brno. The book is complemented by twenty one annexes – the documents related to the topic and with bibliography of MUDr. Wankel and MUDr. Bakeš.
