Programme

The situation of today's so-called Slavic world forces us to think about the question of the historical significance of the so-called Slavic reciprocity. This has been demonstrated throughout history by various means: congresses starting with the one in Prague in 1848 and ending with the one in Moscow during the Second World War, ideological currents starting with Havlíček's reflection on the relations of the Czechs to the Slavs, then through Kramář's Slavonic Constituion and Václav Černý's Development and Crimes of Pan-Slavism. The results of the so-called Slavic reciprocity were and are quite ambivalent, and its realization very often brought disillusionment. This time I will discuss the meaning and role of the Slav Congress in Prague in 1848.
