Corruption – Clientelism – Crisis in Europe 1789–1989
The international conference Corruption – Clientelism – Crisis in Europe 1789–1989 will be held at the National Archives on 19–20 September 2024.
It builds on activities that were addressed within the AV21 Strategy research programme "Resilient Society for the 21st Century. Potentials of crisis and effective transformation". The conference was preceded by a workshop held on 15 March 2024, which dealt mainly with conceptual and methodological issues of the researched topic.
See the press release.
In previous conferences, we have focused on the issue of the stability of society, its cohesion, its readiness to resist destabilizing pressures, especially in times of crisis. At this year's conference, we will focus on the place of corruption, clientelism, paternalism in the broader social context in relation to the crisis. In a crisis environment, these harmful social phenomena, along with other factors, succeed in upsetting the stability of the system, which in extreme situations can lead to the phenomena of social anomie and its gradation.
The contributions presented that pass peer review will be published in an English-language collective monograph or in “Sborník archivních prací” (Collection of Archival Works) jointly published by the National Archives, Czech Republic and the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
Conference languages: Czech, English, German (all without interpretation)
