Faces of the War. The Great War 1914–1918 in reflections of Czech participants
The book Faces of the war is an edition of selected memories concerning the period of World War I. The base of the edition is the Database of everyday history of the Historical Institute of the Czech Academy of Science. The topic of the World War is the result of the first research of this database. The editors tried to include a widest amount of environment and situations the Czech participants of Great War have to cope with. The edition consists of the memories of nine authors of varied origins – socially, professionally and geographically. Their common attribute was their efforts to live their lives during the World War I. Their testimonies have a certain potential to show the different faces of the Great war, althoug naturally not all of them.
