National Committee and the Establishment of Czechoslovakia 1916–1918. Edition of Documents
The Czech nation has experienced a number of revolutionary events in its modern history. One of the most important is the disintegration of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of Czechoslovakia at the end of the First World War. The presented edition of documents deals with the just mentioned period. The authors used the main funds of the National Archive in Prague and the Moravian Provincial Archive in Brno on the activities of the National Committee in Prague and the National Committee in Brno. At the same time, they also pay attention to the activities of the Provincial National Committee for Silesia. Part of the documents on its activities can be found in the collection of the National Committee in the National Archives in Prague. They also focused on the activities of some district and local national committees in the Czech lands to prove their competence in the specific conditions of the region in a direct comparison of central, district and local policies. In doing so, they used the funds of the relevant regional and district archives. The published documents fully complement the analyses depicting the activities of national committees in periodicals, memoirs and historiography. The editors make the documents available in their original form without significant linguistic changes in order to preserve their original authenticity.
